Why the Men and Mice Suite

Today, IP infrastructure of most networks is being managed by some tools.  In the past, spreadsheets were used which proved to be both error prone and labor intensive.
 
Now most enterprise networks are being managed by professional IP address management solutions and the same applies to quite a few small to medium sized networks.

Microsoft DNS and DHCP servers and ISC BIND and DHCP servers are the most commonly used core service.  These servers are both robust and efficient and fulfill the needs of most enterprises.  Management of IP infrastructure with these critical services is a challenge, especially with multiple servers or mixed environments in globally distributed environments.  In most cases replacement of the underlying DNS and DHCP services does not change the picture so appliances as such do not solve this challenge.  

Men & Mice offers a different approach to IP address management by providing a management solution on top of Microsoft and Linux/Unix DNS and DHCP servers, or a mixture thereof. With this unique approach there is no need to replace current IP infrastructure and management of hybrid environments because the Men & Mice Suite allows centralized management of DNS, DHCP and IP configurations by integrating all IP address management functionalities into a single, unified management interface and all IP address data into a single database.  The Men & Mice Suite is a feature rich solution which solves most challenges facing administrators in complex multi-server environments.

With the non-intrusive nature of the solution no replacement of DNS and DHCP services are needed.  Deploying the Men & Mice Suite is therefore simple compared with replacing the underlying services for instance with appliances.  At later stages changes can be done gradually to the IP configurations or design without interrupting the services.  Deploying the Men & Mice Suite requires therefore limited efforts with little risks.  

The Men & Mice Suite can also be used to prepare and migrate from IPv4 to IPv6, a huge task waiting all IP administrators.
