The Men & Mice Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Magnús Eðvald Björnsson has been appointed CEO of Men & Mice from August 2016. Magnús succeeds Kristbjörg Edda Jóhannsdóttir, who oversaw the company’s organizational restructuring from 2014 to the present.
Magnús arrives at Men & Mice equipped with an extensive range of IT expertise, management and product development experience. In the last five years, Magnús has held a number of senior managerial positions at Oracle, most recently leading the core development of the Oracle Big Data Discovery Product as Senior Director of Engineering. Before joining Oracle, Magnús spent the first years of the new millennium holding technical leadership and management positions at EMC Corporation and Endeca in the USA, where his expertise was honed more specifically in the fields of Big Data, Business Intelligence and Information Discovery.
“Magnús possesses a wealth of management experience in international markets and is an excellent choice to lead the strong team at Men & Mice towards further growth,” says Svana Helen Björnsdóttir, Chairman of the Board for Men & Mice.
Recognizing the need for smart DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management solutions for international enterprises that are struggling to accommodate alarmingly fast increases in connectivity, Magnús is excited to be leading the next phase of growth at Men & Mice. “The number of computers and devices connected to the internet has increased exponentially and will continue to do so even faster in the foreseeable future. In that respect, Men & Mice is certainly providing the right product at the right time. We already have large international customers, but I believe that now is the right time to build on the wealth of knowledge and expertise that exists within the company, and expand further on the international market.”
Magnús holds Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Iceland in Theoretical Physics and Computer Science respectively, and both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brandeis University in Massachusetts. Despite his dedication to academic and work-related pursuits, Magnús has also managed to give expression to his entrepreneurial side by co-founding an IT start-up and patenting a number of IT inventions.
Founded in 1990 at the dawn of DNS, Men & Mice has successfully built on its strong DNS heritage to develop versatile DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management (DDI) solutions for large enterprises operating in diverse and highly distributed network environments. The company’s flagship product, the Men & Mice Suite, grants enterprises comprehensive control of their networks through an advanced DDI overlay architecture that supports Linux, Unix, and Microsoft servers, Cisco IOS, reaches into the cloud with Microsoft Azure DNS and Amazon Route 53 and consolidates network infrastructure through core integration with Microsoft Active Directory. Requiring no replacement of existing network infrastructure, the Men & Mice Suite brings efficient simplicity to the complex challenges faced by networks operating in hybrid environments today.
